Hawks Club

The Hawks’ Club has been in existence since 1872 and represents the best sportsmen in the University of Cambridge, past Hawks include Rob Andrew, Mike Atherton, Ted Dexter, Gavin Hastings and George Nash.

Membership is by election and only for those that have taken part in a match or race against Oxford in their particular sport. In 2017 The Hawks’ Charitable Trust made bursary Awards to applicants from over 40 sports and 30 Colleges.

Objective

The primary objectives of the new website for the Hawks Club were very clear, and was to raise the profile of the organisation amongst its current members, university sportsmen, key influencers and the University, and to;

  • Provide a platform to enable better with communication with members
  • Encourage members to attend and book paid-for events
  • Sell a range of members-only merchandise online
  • Increase donations generated through the website and offline.

Approach

We created a new modern and accessible design which reflects the unique nature of the club, we created a new website using the WordPress content management system. We integrated the site with the Salesforce CRM, which we helped to implement and recommended should be used because of its 10 free licenses for non-profits.

A members-only password-protected area of the site is one of the key features offering many services including enabling members to communicate with one another and to purchase branded clothing and accessories online via an e-commerce store built using Woocommerce.

We developed an online event management function to display an event calendar and to handle the bookings and management of a busy events schedule.

Highlight: Salesforce integration

Salesforce is used for membership and event management, and the website integrates with it closely with bi-directional synchronisation of data. We helped with the initial setup and migration to Salesforce, and provided training to help with data cleansing, managing campaigns, member and event management, reporting and analysis.

Many thanks for our new website, I can’t say enough about how it’s tailored to suit our needs especially the seamless link with our Salesforce. It has revolutionised how we interact with members and has significantly boosted the profile of the organisation.
