Granite 5 is a digital marketing agency based in Cambridge. For more than 20 years we have been providing web design, development, optimisation and content marketing. We work with a diverse range of clients from small start-ups to nationwide companies, mainly B2B, but also some charities, membership organisations and consumer-facing businesses.


About the role

We are looking for a experienced lead developer to take ownership of the successful delivery of our website and database development work, support and enhance our existing customers’ websites, and grow, lead and mentor the rest of the development team.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and support to the development team
  • Scope out the technical requirements for new projects
  • Develop new and existing WordPress websites
  • Ensure the quality of our coding standards, testing and technical support
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Assist in debugging WordPress plugins and setups
  • Manage the communication between the dev team, project managers and agency
  • Utilise appropriate project management tools



  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery
  • Custom WordPress themes
  • PHP background
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Team building, mentoring, supporting developers
  • Identifying new technologies and trends
  • Establishing best practice



  • 7+ years in a similar development environment
  • Developing websites from mobile-first responsive designs
  • Working with CSS to ensure consistent results across browsers and platforms
  • Code Versioning e.g. Git
  • Auditing websites for performance and optimisation udpates
  • WordPress shortcodes and plugin structure


Bonus points for:

  • Experience maintaining build tools
  • Developed an open-source theme or plugin
  • Knowledge of PSR-2 Standards
  • Familiarity with ACF & Gutenberg
  • DevOps, Laravel or Hubspot



  • Up to £50k depending on experience
