Google Analytics

Fast facts about your website – for free

A website is a major investment for any business. But for small to medium sized companies without a dedicated Web Master, keeping tabs on site traffic, user behaviour and conversions is not always easy or top of the “to do” list.

However, thanks to a new, free tool called Google Analytics, you can now access up to 80 different reports on your website data and activity at the touch of just a few keyboard buttons.

What’s more you can even schedule reports, get them emailed to colleagues, and quickly and easily customise data.

With Google Analytics you can:
• Discover who’s visiting your site, how long they’re spending on site, and what pages they’re visiting
• Get to the bottom of “bounce” rates (tracking where visitors are leaving your site)
• Examine traffic sources with reports that break down all the sites bringing visitors to your site
• Trace e-commerce transactions to campaigns and keywords
• Integrate AdWords campaigns and learn which keywords are most profitable to your business
•Track and compare all your ads, referrals, email newsletters and paid links on Google and other search engines
• Review and compare data by time periods and dates
• Explore the geographic spread of your website visitors and identify new/most lucrative markets.
• Activate site search reports and find out exactly what your customers want from their visit.
• Set individual “goals” for tracking visitors

With all this information at your fingertips, you’ve got an inside track to improving online results – fast.

On-line tips and a help guide allow you to customise, analyse and interpret the data. So you can easily review what’s working and what’s not, helping to make the most of your marketing budget.

How to sign up
Go to www.google.co.uk/analytics and provide the URL of the site you want to track. You will then receive a piece of customised code that you, your website developer or technician can paste into your site pages.

Once this is done, tracking will begin immediately and you can begin viewing your website reports.
